Glee goes gagA

As I'm sure you already know Glee sang songs by Lady Gaga this week. My faaaavorite was "Poker Face" sung by Idina Menzel and Lea Michele, who play mother and daughter.
I don't think Lady Gaga ever imagined this song to have such intense meaning between a mom and her daughter, but who knows? It was truly beautiful either way. The voices expressed true emotion and I loved how the camera went back and forth from Michele's face to Menzel's

A little something different for summeR

Javelin will make you smile.
Javelin is a band from Brooklyn, but is not your typical Brooklyn band.
Javelin plays electronic music that sounds light and bouncy and kinda just makes you want to lie on the beach all day.

Let's welcome summer and Javelin!

Listen here to judge for yourselves: No Más album by Javelin

(Oh! Centra is my favorite song)

p.s. If you don't remember the name of this band after the amount of times I've written it you have no hope.

A different kind of crewS

Andrea Crews is crazy.

No, I'm not talking about a person. Rather this Parisian based art/fashion machine is redefining just what fashion is and, even more importantly, what clothes you should wear while jogging.

Started by Maroussia Rebecq, Andrea Crews is all about the Do It Yourself look and basically making anything and everything into an item of clothing. Imagine: a four-armed "octopus" sweater.

If you saw someone wearing an Andrea Crews look walking down the street you might just think they were insane, considering it's not everyday that you run into someone wearing a head to toe flower print jumpsuit, but it's just that insanity that makes Andrea Crews so fascinating. For this company it's not about status or social position. It's about having fun and putting on a show wherever your day takes you. Because let's be honest, who doesn't like having people stare at them while they walk down the street.

Crews' latest creations are jogging outfits that are off the wall. The only people who can think of jogging and come up with these outfits are those that work at Andrea Crews (view pictures below for confirmation) and maybe those who are trippin' on acid.

Crews also outfits the French singer Yelle and has collaborated with Lacoste and Nike.

Be your own person, or if not, just be Andrea Crews.

These people look like they know how to have fun.

ArT

Pop Art, welcome to Madison Avenue.

Earlier this year the Gagosian Gallery opened up its very own store front on Madison Ave and 77th street. And let me tell you, this corner has never looked better. The bright colors spill from inside the store onto the street enticing all who walk by to stop in for a quick visit. From the windows you can see fun sculptures and all kinds of practical art that will make any true pop art fan breath heavily after one look.

The first floor holds art from the likes of Andy Warhol to Jeff Koons among others and has tables and shelves filled with art books to suit everyone's needs. When you get to the back of the store, don't be afraid to walk downstairs which is an exclusive Damien Hirst gallery showing off everything from his flower and cigarette wallpaper to his paint splashed skulls.

And if your looking to buy something from this one-of-a-kind store you don't need to be hauling in a 6 figure income. You can buy unframed posters for as little as $30 and if you really want to buy something, but have limited cash the Gagosian has a variety of mostly useless chachkes for around $5. Obviously, along with these sweet nothings there are pieces of art that call for you to dig deep into those pockets and shell out hundreds or even thousands of dollars.

Even if you don't buy a thing half the fun is just looking around.

The logO

Maybe you've been wondering about the letters in my logo. Maybe you haven't. Maybe nobody's even reading this.

Yet, if by some chance you actually care about the super cool letters that adorn the top of my page I will now tell you a bit more about them.

Kaws. A New York City based artist who began by defacing billboards and creating all kinds of crazy graffiti. He has grown up from the young street artist to a full fledged designer now creating paintings, sculptures and limited addition toys which have been shown in galleries around the world. His store is called Original Fake.

Recently Kaws created the cover for New York Magazines "Best of New York" issue which is where I took the letters for my title. Each letter has it's own personality and flavor, you just want to know what would happen if these guys could talk to each other!

Kaws is cool. Graffiti letters are cool.

You must RESPECT

Hip hop is not just a genre of music. It's a lifestyle. A culture, if you will.
The styles and times of this culture must be documented for future generations and one magazine has taken on this task with all of its heart and soul.
Introducing Respect magazine. Only 2 issues have been published so far, but this magazine promises to be going places. Made up mainly of pictures taken by renowned, celebrated pop culture photographers, Respect magazine aims to raise the standard for hip hop publications and give us a glimpse into the souls of the artists who pump through our Ipods on a daily basis. Respects targets the "intelligent reader" so if you think you know hip hop, you must now know Respect.

As the magazine itself said best, "welcome to the new old school."
