It's pretty much a fact that we all love Michael Jackson, but do you believe Chris Brown's tears during this performance? His dance moves are impeccable, but I still don't know if I trust someone who's willing to beat up Rihanna.

Get ready for pianoS

Remember the gates? What about those colorful and crazy cows that used to be on almost every corner? New York City loves its art projects and this next one might top them all.

Get ready for "Play Me, I'm Yours: New York City 2010."

Starting June 21st and going until July 5, Sing For Hope will distribute 60 pianos throughout all 5 boroughs in different parks and even in Times Square! Anyone who happens to pass by a piano can sit down and play. You can finally put all those piano lessons to use with a real public recital.

The exhibition is put on by artist Luke Jerram and it is simultaneously being put on in London. Once the exhibition is over, the pianos will be donated to local schools and community groups.

Find out exact piano locations and learn more HERE!

Looking for a simple shirt with a bit of a flare? Apliiq is the place for you.

The clothes are reminiscent of early American Apparel (and they both began in downtown LA), back before AA had to deal with illegal hiring and sweat shop issues.

Apliiq is all about the fabric. Each design has its own, history, cultural reference and texture. Once you put on an Apliiq garment you become a part of the fabric love. All the respect and love that went into the fabric is then transported onto you and you also become loved by Apliiq.

What more can you ask for?

In honor of the official start of the world cup I present to you this amazing t-shirt.

It's mainly for those people who want to support a winning team, but simply can't choose. So, instead of being a fan of a team they just become a fan of the best players.
Or if you have an obsession with the number 10 this shirt is definitely for you (all three players wear the number).
Buy it here.

Sorry for the delaY

Hello friends,

I've been slacking the past few days, but have no fear-- I'm back for more.
I saw this funny T-shirt while looking around on highsnobiety.

You can get it at the KCDC skate shop in Brooklyn. It reminds me of a few friends of mine, but to be honest, this shirt probably rings true for many people.

Buy it to publicize your drinking problem!

Glee goes gagA

As I'm sure you already know Glee sang songs by Lady Gaga this week. My faaaavorite was "Poker Face" sung by Idina Menzel and Lea Michele, who play mother and daughter.
I don't think Lady Gaga ever imagined this song to have such intense meaning between a mom and her daughter, but who knows? It was truly beautiful either way. The voices expressed true emotion and I loved how the camera went back and forth from Michele's face to Menzel's

A different kind of crewS

Andrea Crews is crazy.

No, I'm not talking about a person. Rather this Parisian based art/fashion machine is redefining just what fashion is and, even more importantly, what clothes you should wear while jogging.

Started by Maroussia Rebecq, Andrea Crews is all about the Do It Yourself look and basically making anything and everything into an item of clothing. Imagine: a four-armed "octopus" sweater.

If you saw someone wearing an Andrea Crews look walking down the street you might just think they were insane, considering it's not everyday that you run into someone wearing a head to toe flower print jumpsuit, but it's just that insanity that makes Andrea Crews so fascinating. For this company it's not about status or social position. It's about having fun and putting on a show wherever your day takes you. Because let's be honest, who doesn't like having people stare at them while they walk down the street.

Crews' latest creations are jogging outfits that are off the wall. The only people who can think of jogging and come up with these outfits are those that work at Andrea Crews (view pictures below for confirmation) and maybe those who are trippin' on acid.

Crews also outfits the French singer Yelle and has collaborated with Lacoste and Nike.

Be your own person, or if not, just be Andrea Crews.

These people look like they know how to have fun.

Pop Art, welcome to Madison Avenue.

Earlier this year the Gagosian Gallery opened up its very own store front on Madison Ave and 77th street. And let me tell you, this corner has never looked better. The bright colors spill from inside the store onto the street enticing all who walk by to stop in for a quick visit. From the windows you can see fun sculptures and all kinds of practical art that will make any true pop art fan breath heavily after one look.

The first floor holds art from the likes of Andy Warhol to Jeff Koons among others and has tables and shelves filled with art books to suit everyone's needs. When you get to the back of the store, don't be afraid to walk downstairs which is an exclusive Damien Hirst gallery showing off everything from his flower and cigarette wallpaper to his paint splashed skulls.

And if your looking to buy something from this one-of-a-kind store you don't need to be hauling in a 6 figure income. You can buy unframed posters for as little as $30 and if you really want to buy something, but have limited cash the Gagosian has a variety of mostly useless chachkes for around $5. Obviously, along with these sweet nothings there are pieces of art that call for you to dig deep into those pockets and shell out hundreds or even thousands of dollars.

Even if you don't buy a thing half the fun is just looking around.

The logO

Maybe you've been wondering about the letters in my logo. Maybe you haven't. Maybe nobody's even reading this.

Yet, if by some chance you actually care about the super cool letters that adorn the top of my page I will now tell you a bit more about them.

Kaws. A New York City based artist who began by defacing billboards and creating all kinds of crazy graffiti. He has grown up from the young street artist to a full fledged designer now creating paintings, sculptures and limited addition toys which have been shown in galleries around the world. His store is called Original Fake.

Recently Kaws created the cover for New York Magazines "Best of New York" issue which is where I took the letters for my title. Each letter has it's own personality and flavor, you just want to know what would happen if these guys could talk to each other!

Kaws is cool. Graffiti letters are cool.

You must RESPECT

Hip hop is not just a genre of music. It's a lifestyle. A culture, if you will.
The styles and times of this culture must be documented for future generations and one magazine has taken on this task with all of its heart and soul.
Introducing Respect magazine. Only 2 issues have been published so far, but this magazine promises to be going places. Made up mainly of pictures taken by renowned, celebrated pop culture photographers, Respect magazine aims to raise the standard for hip hop publications and give us a glimpse into the souls of the artists who pump through our Ipods on a daily basis. Respects targets the "intelligent reader" so if you think you know hip hop, you must now know Respect.

As the magazine itself said best, "welcome to the new old school."

The New Hip Hop.

For those of you who follow Kanye West's blog (or another blog that follows Kanye's blog) you might remember when Mr. West himself said that Soulja Boy exemplifies the future of hip hop:
"Soulja boy is fresh ass hell and is actually the true meaning of what hip hop is sposed to be. He came from the hood, made his own beats, made up a new saying, new sound and a new dance with one song."

As much as I like Kanye I'm going to have to disagree. THEOPHILUS LONDON is the next greatest thing in soul/new wave/pop or what also sometimes sounds like a new kinda hip hop.
Straight out of Brooklyn, London creates new, fun beats that make it impossible to turn off your Ipod. His latest mixtape, I WANT YOU is influenced by Marvin Gaye and is almost too perfect. The sounds touch on "LA electrofunk, UK indie, tropical escapade and obscure afropop you never knew existed."

Mr. London, I WANT YOU too
(copy and paste this link into your browser to download the mixtape)

Come one, come all! Welcome to my first ever blog.
It feels weird to just say those two words in the same sentence-- my and blog. I honestly dislike blogs. Even the word itself is ugly. It's just blah with a G because that's what people do on blogs-blah blah blah. Who gives YOU the authority to post your ideas online? Why should I listen to YOU?
WELL, that's why mine is different. I'm just going to put ideas out there-- music, culture, style and current events. I'm going to post what I'm thinking and what I'm feeling at the moment. Then, YOU let it SQUISH around in your brain. Think about it, shape it, mold it and just work on the idea until it really fits in your brain.
This blog is not about me, it is about US coming together to teach each other the latest and greatest this world has to offer.
